1873 - 1973 RCMP Centennial Quarter Canadian 25 Cent
Featuring MOUNTIE HORSE.
A special coin was designed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the North West Mounted Police, which was later renamed to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The obverse design features a bust image of Queen Elizabeth II and the phrase "ELIZABETH II D.G. REGINA".
Designed by Paul Cedarberg, the back is a mounted RCMP Police officer in dress uniform carrying the flag from the trademark Musical Ride that the RCMP does when on parade. Over the horse's head is a maple leaf and the denomination is behind the officer. Around the top is the word Canada. The horse divides the 1873-1973 dates.
